Rivona Buddhist Caves


Rivona Group of Caves is another unexplored and off-beat attraction of Goa which not many people care to visit. Rivona village is presents a peaceful scenic beauty with easy access to freshwater springs and natural caves. This place is known to have been a favourite among ancient sages who used to choose this place to meditate. The village inherited its name from this same phenomenon. Rishi-Van means a forest for the sages to stay. There are two caves here: a cave that was used by the Buddhist monks and another one that was used by the sages to meditate. These caves are centuries old and are believed to have been carved out of laterite rock exquisitely by Buddhist monks. The trek to this place is picturesque and it is of great historical significance. The Rivona caves occupy an important place in Hindu mythology. They are associated with Mahabharata and are also called Pandava Caves. These caves are famed to have been visited even by Lord Hanuman. Group tours or solo treks, these caves can be visited by crossing a beautiful short adventurous path and then climbing up a small flight of stairs. Shri Ramnath Damodar Sansthan Zambaulim Goa

Damodar Temple in Jambaulim is dedicated to Shri Damodar, who is an incarnation of Lord Krishna, and who appeared as an incarnation of Shiva in Goa. The temple was originally rooted at Margao when in the year 1567 it was demolished by the Portuguese who had invaded the state. The Hindu devotees has then fled to the adjoining areas and later on constructed the shrine in the modern lines of architecture. Shri Damodar is greatly revered by the local people of Goa, including the Hindus and Christians, who occupy a significant position in the societal structure of Goa.

Tanshikar’s Organic Spice Farm

Tanshikar’s Organic Spice Farm is one of the oldest working organic spice farms in Goa. The current owner of the farm is working for the third generation on the farm and is renowned for having received numerous awards from various institutions for his contribution towards organic spice farming. Netravali

The Budbudyanchi Tali translates to the bubble lake which is also known locally as Budbud Talli or Bomadyanchi Talli. This unique lake with bubbles is located in Netravali. This lake is to be found adjacent to the shrine of Gopinath Temple which was initially constructed by the Kadamba rulers in Goa. It is a holy tank or lake that has continuous flow of water 365 days a year. What is unique about this lake is that bubbles appear from nowhere intermittently when you clap or any other any vibration is generated close by. The secret of these bubbles still waits to be unfolded. There are legends associated with the origin of these bubbles and local people happily like to believe that it is the result of some miraculous feat of the local deity. Science has not yet been able to decipher the strange secret of the bubbles but explanation suggests they might be the cause of sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide, limestone or methane escaping from underneath. Clap louder to see a joyful increase in intensity of the bubbles at the Budbudyanchi Tali. The setting is mesmeric with emerald green cover of trees and groves and blue hills.

Chandor

Chandor is a sleepy hamlet in South Goa which is located 43 kilometres from the capital of Goa, Panaji. Chandor is the mystical ancient capital of Goa before the arrival of the Portuguese to the Indian coast with the dilapidated ruins of a huge sized sculpture of a headless and the ruins of ancient temple.
